Equivalence of Kilograms to meters of Copper Wire

There are many doubts when it comes to acquiring a quantity of thread to carry out a job, at Zavala we have realized that the main doubt of our clients is to know how many meters there are in a kilogram of product that I am going to buy.

In this post we are going to solve that doubt and we are going to teach you how to calculate approximately how many kilograms you should buy to be able to carry out your work. Therefore, we are going to see howcalculate the equivalence kilograms to meters of the thread, in this case of copper wire.

The first thing to keep in mind is that these calculations are theoretical, that is, they will give us an approximation of the data we want to know. This is because copper is a material with different compositions and depending on said composition there may be small variations in its density.

The density of copper normally it is from 8,9621 this will be the density that we will use to calculate the equivalence kg to meters.

For calculate this equivalence of kilograms to meters of copper wire We will do it in 3 steps:

1. Choose the size of the thread you need

The most important thing is to correctly choose the thickness of the thread that we want, at Zavala we recommend you choose this measure according to the work you are going to do. For more manual work such as the creation of jewelry, we recommend smaller measures. fine as 0.6 or 1 millimeter.

2. Find out how many kilograms exist in a meter.

We must know how many kilograms there are in a meter of the thread we want. To find this out we will use the following formula:

(Thickness/2)2 x 3.1416 x 8.9621 / 1,000 = kg/m

We are going to see this formula with an example so that we can see it more clearly, imagine that we are interested in acquiring 1.5 mm copper wire, so we will apply the formula:

(1,5/2)2 x 3.1416 x 8.9621 /1,000 = 0.01584 kg/m

This result is the same as saying that there is 0.01584kg in a meter of 1.5mm copper wire.

3. Rule of three

Remember that our objective is to know how many meters we have in a kilogram of thread, since it is normally the format in which it is purchased. We only need to apply a rule of three to the result found in step 2.

To make it clearer, we will use the previous example with the measure of 1.5mm copper wire. We saw that there is 0.01584kg in a meter of thread, so:

0.01584kg = 1 meter

              1 kg = x meters

If we solve the rule x=1*1/0.01584 the result is equal to x = 63.13 meters. so in a kilogram of 1.5 millimeter thread that we buy will correspond to about 63 meters of thread approximately. You can apply this rule to any measure you want to acquire from Copper wire.

In Zavala we have endless copper fittings that you can find on the web. Visit the official page of Zavala If you want to know more about us.

  1. whoh this weblog is wonderful i like reading your articles.
Stay up the good work! You realize, many persons are searching round for this
information, you coul help them greatly.

  2. I was wondering if you ever considered changing the structure of ypur website?
Its very well written; I love what you've got to say. But magbe you could a little moe in the way of content soo people
could connect with it better. Youve got an awful lot of text for only having
one or two pictures. Maybe you could space it out better?
